Eyes up, heart open
Being a local Hartford CT gal, when I get the opportunity to do an engagement session at my favorite park- Elizabeth Park, I get really excited! Most photographers long for the coast line of an unfamiliar place for sessions, which I totally get! Maybe it’s because I do get an opportunity to squeeze some travel in here and there that I can really and truly appreciate the place that I get to call home. Plus, I have to say I love rediscovering all of the nooks and crannies of a park that I grew up going to at different Read More
Many of you know how much I love to travel, and having the job I do, as your fun-loving photographer I am afforded that opportunity on the regular. Lucky me, can I get an amen! But…! Some of my favorite places to travel are those that are a drivable distance from me and my good ole’ state of CT. Squad Lake in New Hampshire is one such place. Like. Whoa. My clients Kate and Colin wanted to do their engagement session up there since it’s a super meaningful place to them both. Kate’s family has a lake home there Read More
Jessica + Chris’ wedding is literally right around the corner… THIS Saturday!! And I could not be more excited to see them both. They are filled, absolutely to the brim, with such light and love for one another, that just being around that feels like a nap in the late afternoon sun, on a hammock, gently swinging in the breeze without a care in the world! They are open, and laugh long and hard, and make wonderful eye contact, and ask questions, and listen for the answer. They touch one another kindly, gently. They are helpful to one another, Read More
I cannot thank Jordan + Michael enough for trusting me with their engagement session! We did our session in a parking garage in Hartford, and I could NOT be happier with how it all turned out! When I meet with my clients, I like to explain my philosophy about what I think the engagement session is really all about: connection. While the location can be important I don’t think it’s what the whole session is about. To me, it’s about how my clients connect in front of my camera; it’s about their chemistry together while being photographed; it’s about Read More
Amanda + Joe and I spent a sparkly and sunny and just about perfect late afternoon together in Southport for their engagement session… we poked around corners and streets and chased the light and laughed and created some magical portraits full of laughter and their cuteness! There are many charming seaside towns along the Connecticut shoreline and Southport is one of my favorite ones to spend time photographing in! I love the feel of the seaside without being just about the beach… And did I mention there was snuggling? So much snuggling! Never enough snuggling! All of the snuggling! There Read More
I was so excited to meet up with Megan + Tim for their engagement session last fall. The day was perfect, the light was working for me and I was so inspired by the location! We poked around their property in the rolling hills of Woodbury, CT and it was just filled with so many little nooks for creating some magical images, I could barely contain myself! We got to ride around in a tractor to get to the fields and can I just say how much FUN that was?? That is so not something that I do in Read More
When I first met up with Gus and Lou they told me that they didn’t want a “typical” engagement shoot. Looking longingly in one another eyes or taking long walks on the beach wasn’t them, Lou told me. They were going to scrap the engagement shoot all together when I suggested that we do something that is them. It turns out that is cats and baking. So last Saturday we got together for a pecan pie engagement shoot.
Using Joanne Chang’s cookbook, these two set out to make dessert. Seriously, if you’re ever in Boston, go to Chang’s bakery/cafe Flour. It was smooth Read More
Who I get asked to be a photographer’s photographer, it’s a little like winning the prize but also a little scary! Like, they know my tricks and my super slickness factor kind of goes out the window a bit! I met Kate years ago and has been an industry friend since way back, but being her personal photographer has made us even closer, and I am so grateful for this! I get how she feels kind of uncomfortable in front of the camera since her home is on the other side, and really worked hard to make sure her Read More
I just can’t deal with how much fun these two are. Let me give you a little context. The subject line of Mike’s first email to me said “please shoot my future wife”. From the get, I knew either he had mistaken me for the hitman that I am not or they were totally my kind of people. As luck would have it, it was the latter.
Mike and Kathleen decided to go back to where she said yes. Of course, the yes followed much cussing (I told you they are my people) and disbelief. Kathleen thinking it must be a Read More
One of the weddings I am looking forward to photographing so much this year has got to be Christopher + Tyler’s. And not just because the countdown has been more dramatic and drawn out than say, Kim and Kanye’s! Because that has been super fun to watch on Facebook (since we are all friends and we ‘like’ each other’s gym pics!) But it’s also because I get to see Chris’ family again, all together celebrating. I met Chris in 2010 when I photographed his sister, my home girl for life, Liz Krankowitz. No. That is not her real name Read More
