wedding wednesday seminar march 24, 2010

I know, I know! Another workshop you say??!! Well, this one is different! It’s on a Wednesday, for starters. Second of all, I can’t help myself. I love teaching, I love helping new photographers- well I like helping old ones too but then if I help the younger ones then when I am old maybe they can help me with my bags! I know Mike likes that one. So I came up with this seminar…

Contrary to popular belief-being a successful wedding photographer is about WAY more than just taking great pictures! Had I known this when I started I am not sure I would have done things the way I did them- but I had no choice! There was no amazing network of helpful photographers there is available today- that is for sure!
As a way to help ease you into your new business or to help you work out the kinks that are already there I have put together a comprehensive seminar to help guide you.
Here is an overview of what I will be going over- written in the third person- (which Carla totally loves)
Learn how to streamline your business while doing what you love most- taking pictures on the wedding day!
The blessing and the curse of owning your own business is, well, being your own boss! Throw on top of that the business side of things and you can imagine (and maybe you know from experience) how involved it really is.
If you are brand spanking new or have been doing weddings for even a few years there are still so many things to learn and grow from along the way. In her over 7 years of experience shooting weddings, Carla has learned some valuable things the hard way!
Hear how Carla streamlines her workflow, delegates the things she doesn’t need to do and has learned to let go of parts of her business in order to focus on what she loves most- her family- and taking pictures. And watching Elf. And Lost.
Carla will cover:
* web site / blog review and critique- how to know what to put on your site to attract the clients you want
* fine tune your pricing and packages
* marketing and advertising strategies, find what works for you
* so you found your clients! Learn how to run an effective client meeting and book them!
* take valuable control of the wedding day from the very first meeting
* maximize photo opportunities during the wedding day
* create a plan for the day that makes sense and that your clients will love and appreciate
* post wedding- establish a flow right from the start and keep your clients happy
* finding vendors that you love to work with
* most importantly- find a balance between your personal life and business- avoid getting overwhelmed right from the start
A lovely lunch and snacks are included, prepared by yours truly- not sure how to write that in the third person

Carla limits the class size to ten students . The seminar runs from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM out of her Hartford, CT studio.
It’s only $265 to reserve your seat!  In order to secure your spot, payment is due as soon as possible. email our studio manager Dominique at info@carlateneyck.com

thirst relief mentor auction 2010

One of the highlights of the last four years has been going to the biggest wedding photography trade show in the country- WPPI – in Las Vegas. While I am by no stretch a Vegas kind of gal, I will make the yearly trek out to see old friends in the business while also making new friends. This year I may have to wager a guess that it is the biggest group from our CT PUG group going to date! One of the things I am looking forward to being there for is my good friends and PUG leaders Justin and Mary Marantz are speakers this year!! Not sure if that sentence was even grammatically  correct or not, that’s how excited to see them I am!

Another highlight is my involvement in the Thirst Relief Mentor Auction. So many of the biggest names in the photography world offer up their time to be a part of this awesome organization- and I am certainly humbled to be listed among them.

This is my second year of offering up a 90 minute mentoring session to the highest bidder- and the best part is you do NOT have to be attending WPPI to win! Mentoring sessions can cover pretty much anything you want for the time- I am ready and willing to chat about anything- even Lost!! In addition to the mentoring session I am throwing in a spot at any of my upcoming workshops!

You can sign up HERE to be notified when the auction goes live – I believe it is February 16th and 17th

So Connecticut people, who all is going??
