Alison and Weston’s epic wedding at Edson Hill in Stowe Vermont was impeccable! Designed and planned by luxury wedding and event planners Storied Events, this wedding was romantic, fun and over the top incredible! When I first talked with Alison and Weston, they both told me how much they loved the idea of having a weekend event tucked away in Vermont. I loved the idea of it, and the reality was even better. They both also expressed an interest in getting to know their photographer better before their wedding, since they are both ‘incredibly awkward’ (their words!) in front of the camera, and wanted to make sure that whoever they chose could help them feel at ease. They were drawn to the emotion and color in my work and once we talked it was a done deal. We connected easily on the phone and I couldn’t wait to meet them in person later that year for their engagement session.
One really interesting fact about me: I know sign language. I went to Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester NY and on their campus is another college, The National Technical Institute for the Deaf. One of my favorite parts of college was having an interpreter in every class. I obsessively watched them and was able to learn a ton of sign. I made a lot of friends who were deaf and even started pledging a deaf sorority (little known fact!) but couldn’t manage the time commitment between that and all of my photography work, but it was really fun! Flash forward almost 25 years later and I meet Weston and Alison and learn that Weston’s parents are both deaf, as are many of his family and friends that will be attending the wedding. They had no idea I even knew sign, but it ended up being s sweet little bonus for me to be able to dust off my sign language skills and immerse myself again. I loved signing, 25 years ago and now, and even thought I know I messed up a bunch it felt great to be able to communicate with everyone at the wedding.
Their stationary suite was pretty great, I loved how they included sign as a design element in all of the paper. Even down to the custom stamps!
Their welcome bag had this sweet custom design on it- this sign means ‘I love you’
Check out this picturesque property at Edson Hill!
I could have legit fainted at these flowers. Blomma Flicka is RIDICULOUS. Can you see those blueberries in the mix here?
Alison’s Mom, Elena was one of the most fashion forward mothers of the bride! Her dress was beyond gorgeous!
Alison and Weston did not want a first look, so we did some pregame photos of them to help with the timeline crunch later!
Alison’s Dad David had this jacket custom made with photos of Alison riding- it was so cool!
Custom ‘bean’ cuff links- too cute!
I had to make my way to those ferns, guys. You know I love my ferny BS! It made a stunning backdrop for Alison.
Almost ceremony time- and I was able to grab a few details before the main event!
Their tent was custom built for them- complete with a cocktail porch and grand staircase!
Weston the moment he laid eyes on his future wife…
Epic walk down the aisle for Alison and her Dad…. check out the escort card display below! It’s the mountain range of Vermont.
My second photographer Melissa got this shot of Alison and her Dad as they made their way down the staircase…what a grand entrance!
Weston’s Mom was so loving and open and emotive.
That smile! Every time I see it I smile!
I loved seeing the sneaky little sign Weston had for his Mom as he walked down the aisle…they are both saying ‘I love you’ to one another- omggggggg
We headed to another piece of the property where there is a little pine grove for photographs. Luckily I scouted the property the day before to make sure we had easy access to where we wanted to go since time was super tight. I discovered an electric fence that was active! and horses that were there that were not there the day before…! Luckily I had met the neighbors, Robin and Robert, who were kind enough to offer access to their driveway so we could get to the pine grove without getting electrocuted!
I am so glad we made this location work, the portraits I got of Weston and Alison left me breathless with excitement! They were laughing at how excited I was getting!
At the tent reveal for Alison, Weston and their parents- it was so fun to see their reactions!
The dream team! Jamie was moved to tears when she saw their reactions! Carrie is such a talented designer! This team is a powerhouse and I loved working with them!
I said it once and I’ll say it again, COCKTAIL PORCH!
Goof balls to their core, these two made quite an entertaining entrance to the party!
I was DYING at this toast. Not only because of the wig but give me a break! This is what Weston’s hair looked like back in the day!
During Weston’s dance with his Mom, they watched the interpreter so that she could see what the song was about… it was touching watching her react to the words.
These two are so adorable…. I can’t!
But also, this tent photographed so beautifully!!!
The Eleven brought the house down!!
For those that were there for the best man’s toast…you’ll get this!!
Alison and Weston, I can’t thank you enough for trusting me with your wedding. It was amazing! Even more amazing than I imagined it would be- not only because the decor was out of this world, and the property was magical. It was amazing because of the loving energy that was present from everyone there! Your family and friends love you both so much. Have the best time on your honeymoon! XOXO
