Eyes up, heart open
I like to travel, I am not gonna lie. But I will be honest with you, I do not want to be a destination wedding photographer, and I am not ashamed to admit it! I love my third smallest state in the union here- CONNECTICUT!!!! like no other. With its crappy weather (right now anyway) and super small town appeal, I am in heaven every time I come home.
These next two months are going to be some of the craziest months- actually I am smack in the middle of crazy right now- but I ask you not Read More
This May 16-19 my good friend and very talented Event Planner Candice Dowling-Coppola of Jubilee Events and I will be teaming up to present: Collaborate and Create 2010– a photography and design event!!
To say I am excited is the understatement of the year!! Candice and I have been working together on editorial shoots pretty much every month this past year – in Connecticut to New Orleans and beyond and have some crazy ones in the planning stages that we can’t wait to share with everyone.
We get asked a lot how we put together Read More
Tomorrow I will make the trek out to WPPI in Vegas for a week, and I have to say I am BEYOND pumped! Sooooo many people that I love and respect as not only photographers but people are going to be there from our good old Nutmegger state representing our little slice of the photography community! My girls Nikki Nicole, Amanda Herzberger of Orchard Cove, Jane Shauck from Iris Photography; Paul & Krystal from Studio Foto; Jen and Jerome Braga of Studio 1923; Rob and Kathleen Trenskee of Rob & Kathleen Photographers; Justin and Mary Marantz (who are speaking!!!!); Read More
This last week was the whirlwind to start the whirlwind of all whirlwinds for me… and the butterflies are still in my belly to prove it! So, to give you a little back ground: I was a part of one of the BEST photo retreats / conferences / seminars I have ever been a part of! BIG thanks to Matt and Enna Grazier for dreaming this up and then finding the means to make it happen!!
Inspire Boston 2010 was amazing. It was beyond amazing, to be perfectly honest. There were so many photographers new to the business and Read More
This past Tuesday ushered in a new workshop in the Ten Eyck Tuesday Photography Workshop line up: Posing! This is something that I used to really struggle with at shoots- you’ve got a great couple…and only 20 minutes to kick some butt and get some protraits done- NOW WHAT??
Rather than freak out and panic, I came up with a system that worked well for me and thought it would be a nice thing to share with my fellow photographers. Turns out I was right- we all had a lot of fun together and really got into the shooting flow-RIDA!
I know, I know! Another workshop you say??!! Well, this one is different! It’s on a Wednesday, for starters. Second of all, I can’t help myself. I love teaching, I love helping new photographers- well I like helping old ones too but then if I help the younger ones then when I am old maybe they can help me with my bags! I know Mike likes that one. So I came up with this seminar…
Contrary to popular belief-being a successful wedding photographer is about WAY more than just taking great pictures! Read More
Our second lighting workshop in January at Hartford City hall was SO much fun, I can’t even tell you all! Well. I guess I can!
Let me just get this out there. I truly think that the success of my workshops is measured by the images that everyone who attends gets! Wait till you see what this class got!!!
Here is one of the shots I snagged in between sets ups.
And here are our models for the day: Paul and Krystal of Studio Foto! I know, I know, it was like cheating having them to photograph they are Read More
The first of our two Ten Eyck Tuesday Lighting workshops this month was on a veeerrryyy chilly day at the studio in Hartford. Our class was at full capacity with five of the most talented and energetic ladies in the business: Rebecca Hales, Robin Dini, Danielle Fuller, Liz Squillacote and Meg Hamilton from waaaay up Northern New Hampshire way rounded out our fun group of ladies. In the past two years of teaching these workshops my favorite part remains the same: the look on everyone’s faces BEFORE we start shooting and then the looks on their faces AFTER it Read More
One of my goals for 2010 was to put myself out there more for teaching purposes- see what else I could tackle in addition to the monthly Ten Eyck Tuesdays. Well wouldn’t you know that one of the coolest new photography mini-conference retreats on the east coast- INSPIRE Boston 2010– put on by the Boston Photographers Guild and Lens Pro to Go- has asked me to be a part of it this year!
The best part?
I am going to be hosting a live shoot! While speaking! See… I can multi-task! Sometimes….
There are so many talented speakers Read More
