Eyes up, heart open
Being asked to create content for one of the most iconic Connecticut Inn’s, The esteemed Mayflower Inn and Spa, in picturesque Washington CT. Rumor has it that The Mayflower Inn was the inspiration for the Independence Inn, where Lorelai worked on the cult tv favorite Gilmore Girls. Additionally, The Well, NYC’s ‘buzziest’ wellness destination, according to Vogue, has opened up a spot in the Spa at the Mayflower Inn. Just the photo alone on Vogue showing the ‘The Biophilic whirlpool at The Well at Mayflower Inn’ that is surrounded by over 400 plants has my heart racing in an Read More
Being given a chance to create fabulous LGBTQ+ inspiration in a downtown Hartford institution like The Goodwin Hotel in Hartford CT was a dream come true. Add to this the absolute BONKERS list of creative partners for this inspirational shoot and I just about lost my MIND. Being a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, seeing representation out there is super important. Having representatives of the LGBTQ community creating their own imagery is something else, entirely, and I am definitely here for that. Also! Hey! Having this shoot in my hometown of Hartford CT added another little layer of Read More
Before working at The Greenbrier in West Virginia I had never heard of it before. Ever since learning about The Greenbrier a part of me has not stopped thinking about it. Perhaps it’s mostly for The Greenbrier’s absolutely insanely beautiful and colorful and daring decor by famed interior designer Dorothy Draper.
When I stepped foot inside The Greenbrier, my heart stopped for a second, then absolutely IMPLODED inside of my chest. WOW! I had never been inside such an inspiring and whimsical space. It was fancy, but so so fun. I felt out of place but so at home Read More
Mount Hope in Bristol Rhode Island is hands down one of my favorite spots for a place to let loose and get creative. I have worked there twice, both for Bliss Celebrations Magazine. Both times I left while floating on a cloud, it felt like! As a creative person it feels really validating to be given free reign to choose spots to create work with a team of equally talented partners. Mount Hope has so many nooks and crannies to poke around and create magic in, and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunities I have Read More
Gather and Lounge, a furniture rental house in Bridgeport CT, has hosted some of the most fun wedding and event industry parties in the winter. Their Havana Nights themed party a few years back was to me, and apparently to Danielle, too, just a wonderful excuse to do a styled shoot and showcase the gorgeous design of their party. Carrie Wilcox, of Carrie Wilcox Floral Design, absolutely outdid herself with that KILLER arch for the ceremony! It was lush and tropical, and warmed us up on that chilly January day. Luckily I have worked with Carrie and Danielle on Read More
Asking for something can be really hard. Except for the salt, I can ask for that no problem! This past December marked the 16th Engage Luxury Wedding and Business Summit conference I had attended at the Solaz Luxury Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. I was on the photography team, and had a ball working the event, as always. I enjoy switching up my role from attendee, to photography team member to photo team leader and also as a four time speaker.
Each experience is different and affords me different opportunities. Enter: The Hard Part. The follow up. Read More
Smith Farm gardens in East Haddam, Connecticut is one of the most beautiful spaces for a wedding or event I have seen in a long time. That’s saying something considering our Nutmeg State is host to some truly charming venues! The grounds are meticulously manicured, and the white farm house on the property has been lovingly restored with every detail thought of and attended to.
Earlier in the spring I partnered up with Alyssa of Alyssa Jean Signature Events, based in West Hartford, on a styled shoot. Alyssa is new to Connecticut and wanted to show some fresh Read More
The Chatfield Hollow Inn is FABULOUS! It is one of the dreamiest venues that I have ever seen: Yes folks it’s The Chatfield Hollow Inn, located in the windy roads of Killingworth CT. Not to be confused with Chatfield Hollow State Park, which is about 10 minutes away, this little gem of a spot is its own jam. From the very second you pull up the long, tree lined driveway complete with stone walls, groves of ferns and clusters of delicate birch trees you know exactly why!
I discovered that the Chatfield Hollow Inn was a bed and breakfast Read More
The Copper Beech Inn provided inspiration for our creative collaboration with industry friends. It is one of my favorite favorite things to do. I can’t stress that enough! We are given a blank slate, essentially, and then a design direction, and then the green light flashes and we all retreat into our collective creative corners and return to the ring with our vision and just let it all fly! At the same time, we are open to trusting our partners and tweaking things even more once we arrive and the light changes or something doesn’t work or even better Read More
Welcome back for the second installment of this mountain luxury styled shoot at Lonesome Valley Resort in Cashiers, North Carolina! So I mentioned in my previous blog post about the first location we worked in at the little stream and waterfall (you can read that post HERE) that there was a boat house, and indeed there was! The first thing I saw when scouting the resort for new and different locations to work in was this swim platform. It called my name long and low and it echoed across the valley and I had no choice but to heed Read More
