Eyes up, heart open
My most important job as your photographer is to tell the story of your wedding day while making you and your family and friends comfortable.
I believe the more comfortable you are, the better your pictures will be.
My typical client loves their family + friends over anything. Always, always. They value time spent together, and are able to appreciate the quieter moments in their relationships, that strung together, share a story of deep love.
They appreciate beautiful photography, art and design. Someone who lets me do what I do best, and trusts my many years of experience in the industry. Whether you are the most camera-shy person or the biggest ham, there is no cookie-cutter approach to every client.
I will get you comfortable in a way that is best for you.
Here you can view my most recent weddings, events and other fun sessions. Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable, I have been happily blogging since 2006, so there is all of the content to do a deep dive and see if I am the right fit for you and your event.
I pride myself on being a welcoming + inclusive photographer + human being and embrace everyone. I am so happy you are here to view my work, stay as long as you’d like and please feel free to leave a comment or share any posts! XO Carla Ten Eyck
Yesterday’s afternoon family session in Old Lyme with Tosh and Keith was a salve for my chapped soul, at a time right when I needed it. I remember a few years back when I was working a wedding at one of my favorite little Inns, The Bee and Thistle Inn with Tosh at the helm. She told me she had ventured into the world of online dating. we commiserated about our perceived lack of just, good, real people out there in the complicated web of online dating. It certainly felt hopeless to me, and so I stopped. Not Read More
When I met up with Kristina and Joe for their summer CT engagement session this summer, it was warm but thank god it wasn’t as scorching as the one that got us up to 107!
No matter! They still brought the heat to their engagement session and my new Nikon Z6 camera was EN FUEGO the whole time! Not to be a nerd but to kind of be a nerd, I decided to give a mirrorless camera a go and decided today was the day, after months researching and picking the brains of my smart peers (thank you Gigi Read More
Jill and Mike’s September wedding at the Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park in Waterford CT was much like their engagement session last summer. To read more about that adventure, check it out HERE. Instead of horses and dogs and the thread on Lyme disease we had the groomsmen, who were like a pack of hyper puppies with boundless energy, with Mike at the helm! No matter! A big part of my job as a photographer turns into crowd control, pivoting for things like weather and calming any nerves on the day of a wedding. At one point my Read More
A summer outdoor wedding at The Owenego Inn in Branford CT was exactly what Casey and Dave had envisioned for themselves. It was absolutely gorgeous out! It was a warm summer day with beachgoers at the club watching the wedding day unfold from their seats at the beach. I loved the charm The Owenego Inn offers, and had visions of being a member there myself, enjoying the summer with my family, having a cold cocktail on the patio. It’s a really sweet spot and I was so happy to be there that day while Casey and Dave exchanged their Read More
Kristin and Chris’ summer wedding at The Inn at Mystic in Mystic CT was on a gorgeous day. They decided to host an intimate wedding with those closest to them for their wedding, so every person there was someone very special. I love intimate weddings, and Kristin and Chris’ wedding was no exception. When I met with them before booking, they both mentioned being a little nervous being photographed, as most of my couples are! We opted for an engagement session to help them feel more comfortable so that their portrait session during their wedding would be easier. I Read More
Alison and Weston’s epic wedding at Edson Hill in Stowe Vermont was impeccable! Designed and planned by luxury wedding and event planners Storied Events, this wedding was romantic, fun and over the top incredible! When I first talked with Alison and Weston, they both told me how much they loved the idea of having a weekend event tucked away in Vermont. I loved the idea of it, and the reality was even better. They both also expressed an interest in getting to know their photographer better before their wedding, since they are both ‘incredibly awkward’ (their words!) in front Read More
A carnival themed graduation party in June seemed like the best way for me to spend a gorgeous Saturday this summer! When I heard my clients plans for her daughters’ graduation party my head was spinning so bad it almost popped off my neck! Perhaps it was because I would have the honor of working with one of my most favorite planners, Jacqueline and her team of Lifetime Events by Jacqueline, based in New York City. We had the pleasure fo working together for Kaylee’s quince and for Karen and Shawn’s destination wedding in Puerto Rico last year. Jacqueline Read More
A Flamig Farm wedding in Simsbury CT, you say? I said HECK YES to this when Sarah met with me and told me her plans for this epic day…how could I not? Let me back up a bit. I first met Sarah at her Dad’s wedding that I had the honor of photographing at The Saybrook Point Inn and Spa in Old Saybrook CT about 3 years ago. As if that wasn’t enough of a push in my direction I find out Sarah boards her horses at one of my childhood friends’ barns in Granby! Julia is super outspoken and Read More
Riverview Wedding for Samm and Jelan. There wasn’t a better day for Samm and Jelan’s wedding at The Riverview in Simsbury than the one we had, on a Thursday! The weather currently and coming up is some of the hottest I have ever experienced here in Connecticut and I am beyond thankful that we had such a perfect day! Samm got ready at The Simsbury Inn in Simsbury CT in their light-filled bridal suite with her best girlfriends and family all hustling and bustling around her. I first met Samm in the gym of Classical Magnet School in Hartford, Read More
Colleen and Kean’s joyful Jonathan Edwards winery wedding in North Stonington CT was so much fun! We had beautiful light, a sudden storm in the middle of the day that gave us some dramatic clouds (thank you Mother Nature!) and lots of laughter, hugs and love. This just about sums up my perfect day of work: bearing witness to the love that two people share for one another while everyone looks their best.
When I first met Colleen and Kean I knew we would get along wonderfully. They are the perfect balance of just a little bit of shy Read More
