Eyes up, heart open
My most important job as your photographer is to tell the story of your wedding day while making you and your family and friends comfortable.
I believe the more comfortable you are, the better your pictures will be.
My typical client loves their family + friends over anything. Always, always. They value time spent together, and are able to appreciate the quieter moments in their relationships, that strung together, share a story of deep love.
They appreciate beautiful photography, art and design. Someone who lets me do what I do best, and trusts my many years of experience in the industry. Whether you are the most camera-shy person or the biggest ham, there is no cookie-cutter approach to every client.
I will get you comfortable in a way that is best for you.
Here you can view my most recent weddings, events and other fun sessions. Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable, I have been happily blogging since 2006, so there is all of the content to do a deep dive and see if I am the right fit for you and your event.
I pride myself on being a welcoming + inclusive photographer + human being and embrace everyone. I am so happy you are here to view my work, stay as long as you’d like and please feel free to leave a comment or share any posts! XO Carla Ten Eyck
Last Friday brought the top of our triple header… the much anticipated wedding of my client turned friend, Jessica, to her fiance Eric at the Laurel View Country Club in Hamden, CT. Jessica is one of the most enthusiastic and sweet people I have met. From the moment we met, I knew she got what we were about. She trusted me to do my thing, and gave us plenty to work with! Here she models her cute Mrs. shorts for me before getting dressed…
Now Jessica loves her some Twilight!! She brought her four book series in for Read More

And all new details for us to photograph…. all so tasteful and beautiful.

This week I am,along with many other, will be saying goodbye to a dear friend- Eleanor Peters. Ellie and I had a special relationship- she hovered in that non descript- she’s not my family, technically, but she may as well be kind of area in my life.
I first met Ellie when I was in fifth grade and became close friends with one of my dearest friends to this day, Bethany. I would go over to Bethany’s house every day after school for pretty much all of fifth and sixth grade. Read More

Continuing our three day shooting festivities was our Saturday wedding at the fabulous Oak Hill Estate in Hudson NY. Tammy Baldwin from Charmed Places event planning ran the day’s events as smoothly as possible, and everything went off without a hitch. Linda Baldwin of Linda Baldwin Flowers and Decor did another amazing job on Saturday as well!! There were even some awesome little spontaneous surprises thrown in for us that we were all excited about and can’t wait to show you!
But first, the details. Samar’s shoes were so simple and pretty Read More

Friday was the start of one of the most incredible events I have photographed to date: a three day Pakistani + Irish wedding at the Oak Hill estate in the Hudson River Valley. Do I honestly need to elaborate?? Oh but I will!! There was COLOR to spare, emotional, wonderful, loving people- and details like I have never seen before.
The first event we shot I brought along Mike, my steady second shooter and Katie and Graham, my associate photographers to cover Samar and Shane’s wedding(s). Yes, it was big enough to warrant Read More

Once upon a time there was a looooong blog post! Get ready, because you are in for a treat- filled with color, details, emotion and the cutest little kids, with the cutest little wreaths! Tara and Mark did their engagement shoot with Mike and I not too long ago up in Northampton. They are the nicest, sweetest, most smiley couple- and we had a great time getting to know them in their town. Then at their wedding on Saturday at the New Haven Lawn Club we got to meet all of their friends and families- and this is the part Read More
Yesterdays’ weather was just not nice to me! What was UP with that??? Wednesday was nice, today is supposed to be nice, but Thursday? WHATEVER! Good thing that I love a challenge, right? OK, so the rain? Not so bad, I can work with that. But. I had a CONVERTIBLE for the day. So I was a little aggravated about the rain. But, check out what we rocked! And while you’re at it, meet our awesome clients Krista and Jose, who were so patient, fun and up for anything that Mike and I threw their way…. and Krista’s hair and Read More
Our May class was full of bright and cheery photographers, ready to get their shoot on. Which was perfect since we had our first rainy Ten Eyck Tuesday since I started doing these last year! As some of you may know, I am not one to be scared by inclement weather, I am all BRING IT ON!!! about it. Much to our fearless model of the month’s dismay, the one and only Miss Amanda Harris Herzberger! She got all fancified for us, only for me to be like, no, seriously, let’s rock out in the rain! What a good Read More
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Moms in the house! I hope everyone enjoyed the company of their Mom, or if you are a Mom yourself, I trust you were cuddled and snuggled and fawned over appropriately! Whether your Mom is living or not, I hope that you took the time to stop and appreciate all that your Mom has done for you and will continue to do for you. And yes, I realize that not all Mom’s are saints, Mom’s are people too who make mistakes and bad choices in life too. So celebrate THAT with a Read More
