Eyes up, heart open
My most important job as your photographer is to tell the story of your wedding day while making you and your family and friends comfortable.
I believe the more comfortable you are, the better your pictures will be. My typical client is a lover of photography, art and design. They are someone who has to have beautiful photographs. Someone who lets me do what I do best, and trusts my many years of experience in the industry. Whether you are the most camera-shy person or the biggest ham, there is no cookie-cutter approach to every client. I will get you comfortable in a way that is best for you.
Here you can view my most recent weddings, events and other fun sessions. Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable, I have been happily blogging since 2006, so there is all of the content to do a deep dive and see if I am the right fit for you and your event.
I pride myself on being a welcoming and inclusive photographer and human being and embrace everyone. I am so happy you are here to view my work, stay as long as you’d like and please feel free to leave a comment or share any posts! XO Carla Ten Eyck
Yes. That’s how you spell her name!
Moving on…. Mike and I had the very very good fortune of having the opportunity to photograph Kiira and James all around San Francisco this past Easter Sunday. Let me start by saying that James is Mike’s cousin. So, I was expecting a kind of shy quiet guy. Can I tell you how wrong I was? Not only does this guy TALK, he makes me belly laugh with his crazy observations (not that Mike doesn’t mind you) but James is like a constant stream of consciousness way that kept me laughing my butt Read More

. Not only is she a wonderful photographer but she also has this great series called Women in Business where she interviews women that run their own studios. I was flattered and honored to be a part of this awesome series that features other crazy talented women in photography like Joy Bianchi, Julia Woods and Elizabeth Messina to name a few. To be in the same series as these women is just such Read More
UG! I have been staring at the screen for like 20 minutes and I don’t know where to start with this post!!! I’m just going to have a brain dump then…. Mike and I just got back from the most whirlwind trip to San Francisco late last night. My stomach still hurts from all of the laughing I did, and my calves? Well. That is a different story. Let’s just say that I am disabled. Or out of shape, is probably more accurate!
Our clients Nicole and Matias were just nuts. Let me rephrase that. Our FRIENDS Nicole and Matias Read More
The Sunday after our Saybrook Point Inn Wedding Mike and I journeyed up to Northampton way to photograph our May 16th clients Tara and Mark. Let me just warn you that they are so cute together!! So we started off at their apartment before we headed out to a few areas that they like for photos.
Their hallway was so colorful and awesome, you know I had to play there
We played around on their back porch area with their shadows

Our May Ten Eyck Tuesday is BOOKED! If you are interested in joining us for an intense day of learning, shooting, eating and critiquing…and LAUGHING… sign up for our June class! There are only a few spots left for June!!
Yesterday’s Ten Eyck Tuesday photography workshop was a real success, despite the freezing winds! One would think that the cold would keep us in the studio, but nooooo…. I decided to break free for this class and so we traveled to downtown Hartford. I had it in my brain that a parking garage would be a good option since Read More
This past Saturday Mike, Katie and I shot our gregarious bride of many faces… Miss Jaime and her now husband Mr. Chris Thurber! If there is a poster for a New England church it has GOT to be the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme… how pretty was this church?!! We capped off the day with a hoppin’ reception at the fabulous and newly renovated Saybrook Point Inn in Old Saybrook CT.
Here are our photographic adventures from the day, complete with commentary from yours truly…. of course!
So, I shoot the rings, Read More
I’m a mind reader and I know you want more of Mr. and Mrs. Scobey! I know I do!! These two… well. Not sure what I could write would even remotely do their session justice. They are cute x 1,000,000 anyway and then add to the mix Ashley’s cute little belly, and then how in love these two still are with each other! I know, they look like they are like 12, but they have been in love since they were like…12 actually! So the reality is they have been in love longer than me and Dave, Read More
As many of my current and past clients know, I hope that I can get you comfortable enough to open up with me and be yourself. When you are yourself around Mike and I… and our cameras? Well…. it just works. We get you, as you truly are. Comfortable, happy.
On the flip side, I understand the importance of showing who I really am. How can I expect you to bare all and then not know anything about me? And so… I blog about, well, everything in my life. Photography, my family, the struggles of being a Read More

This little scamp of a cat has lived at my house since 1992. I think he may even be older than Graham!! I remember coming home on a visit from RIT during the fall of 1992 and my brother had found him. He was such a mellow cat, cuddly and just all around nice. He used to come into our house but we had this crazy lab Cassie who HATED cats- and she was BIG and Read More
Maternity sessions are in full swing here at the studio! And while I feel like I am earning the rep for being an ‘urban maternity’ shooting kind of gal, we decided to change it up a bit and shoot only at the studio for Christy’s session. Well, that and the fact that it was way too chilly out to go parading around all exposed and stuff.
Maternity sessions for me are starting to really become my ‘thing’ – in addition to weddings. My husband and I were talking about this today- about how to really make your Read More
