Eyes up, heart open
My most important job as your photographer is to tell the story of your wedding day while making you and your family and friends comfortable.
I believe the more comfortable you are, the better your pictures will be. My typical client is a lover of photography, art and design. They are someone who has to have beautiful photographs. Someone who lets me do what I do best, and trusts my many years of experience in the industry. Whether you are the most camera-shy person or the biggest ham, there is no cookie-cutter approach to every client. I will get you comfortable in a way that is best for you.
Here you can view my most recent weddings, events and other fun sessions. Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable, I have been happily blogging since 2006, so there is all of the content to do a deep dive and see if I am the right fit for you and your event.
I pride myself on being a welcoming and inclusive photographer and human being and embrace everyone. I am so happy you are here to view my work, stay as long as you’d like and please feel free to leave a comment or share any posts! XO Carla Ten Eyck
During this last little heat wave here in Connecticut, one would think the last thing anyone would want to do is get all gussied up for their engagement session in a field at Heritage Homestead in the sun, with like, a bunch of animals. You would, however, be super wrong! Jill and Mike (and both their Mom’s, and Mike’s sister, and their two dogs and Jill’s horse!) all made the trek out in the heat to meet me and my Nikon for a date in the sun. When I showed up, it was absolute chaos. What might look like Read More
This has been the week of beautiful, heart stopping sessions for me and last week’s engagement session at Elizabeth Park in Hartford was no exception! When we were planning their engagement session, the few things that would make Colleen and Kean the happiest was some floral goodness… so as soon as they said that I was ALL over it and suggested one of my favorite places to work, Elizabeth Park. I grew up going to this gorgeous park, and it is host to the oldest municipal rose garden in the country, and also one of the most stunning. People Read More
Smith Farm gardens in East Haddam, Connecticut is one of the most beautiful spaces for a wedding or event I have seen in a long time. That’s saying something considering our Nutmeg State is host to some truly charming venues! The grounds are meticulously manicured, and the white farm house on the property has been lovingly restored with every detail thought of and attended to.
Earlier in the spring I partnered up with Alyssa of Alyssa Jean Signature Events, based in West Hartford, on a styled shoot. Alyssa is new to Connecticut and wanted to show some fresh Read More
“Big giant fun party under a gorgeous tent at a vineyard.” “Big foodies.” “80% of those attending are close friends” “Loves the vibrancy of my pictures,” “Wants their photographer to be a part of the day and not just sit back and miss things.” These are all notes underlined by me that I jotted down during my first meeting with Lauren and Bridget for their Jonathan Edwards Winery wedding in North Stonington CT.
Ladies, I would have to say that according to my masterful note taking and photographs below, your wedding was exactly that: a big, giant, vibrant fun Read More
Karen and Shawn’s destination wedding in San Juan Puerto Rico was opulent and beautiful with no detail left out. I have had the honor of photographing Karen and her family for over 10 years, so their wedding felt like an extended party on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. They hosted a select group of close family and friends, and were surrounded by their kind and loving families. The other day I was looking through some of the sessions I had done with Karen and her children and was just amazed at how much they have all grown over Read More
Erica and Brandon’s absolutely classical GORGEOUS wedding at The Delamar Hotel in Greenwich CT was a beautiful day filled with happy families and the world’s cutest dog, Lucy. Erica is one of the most photogenic people I have worked with, and that isn’t even because she looks so much like Anne Hathaway if she were playing Snow White! Then: give Brandon a hard look and maybe you will see a young Dustin Hoffman or John Cusak or if Dustin and John had a son it would be Brandon. Tell me I’m wrong! So with this in my head Read More
Meeting Robin and Elise at my home studio in Hartford one afternoon, I knew right away that I was their photographer, and they were my client. Our conversation was effortless, and easy and listening to how their day was unfolding before me in my living room just made me excited to be there with Robin, Elise and their closest friends and family. When the day finally did arrive it was hot hot hot. Like, movie hot. So super hot! But honestly you would never ever know by just the images as everyone kept cool in the shade of a Read More
When I got an email a few months back from Nancy Goldstein, from Amazing Celebrations and Events, for a wedding that was going to take place in my ‘hood, Elizabeth Park, and I was excited. And then when I found out if was for a dear friend of mine, Tully, I was elated! Tully and I go way back, to the early years before I had children. We used to hang out and travel with our ex-husbands and laugh, have cocktails and dinner and… laugh some more. See, Tully is hands down one of the funniest people I have Read More
How do I even begin to write this post for this wedding, and tell you all about every little and big meaningful thing here? This feels like a big task so I am going to just jump right in. I met Tammy way back in 2006, the now ‘old fashioned’ way. We met online. This was way before Facebook and Instagram and any social media platform that united us. This was back when us photographers blogged on our souped up Blogger Blogs, we didn’t even use Word Press back then. We knew there were others like us Read More
I met Samm and Jelan when my son Jackson was asked to try out for the basketball team. Coach Tucker approached Jack (he was 6″1″ as a freshman) and made him feel wanted and included. Despite Jack not knowing anything about basketball he agreed to try out, and the rest is history. Confession time: I used to hate basketball. Like, loathe it. I’m not quite sure why, when I really just stop and ask myself, if I am being 100% honest! When Jack joined I was immediately interested, for reasons that I am confident don’t need explaining. I got Read More
