Eyes up, heart open
My most important job as your photographer is to tell the story of your wedding day while making you and your family and friends comfortable.
I believe the more comfortable you are, the better your pictures will be.
My typical client loves their family + friends over anything. Always, always. They value time spent together, and are able to appreciate the quieter moments in their relationships, that strung together, share a story of deep love.
They appreciate beautiful photography, art and design. Someone who lets me do what I do best, and trusts my many years of experience in the industry. Whether you are the most camera-shy person or the biggest ham, there is no cookie-cutter approach to every client.
I will get you comfortable in a way that is best for you.
Here you can view my most recent weddings, events and other fun sessions. Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable, I have been happily blogging since 2006, so there is all of the content to do a deep dive and see if I am the right fit for you and your event.
I pride myself on being a welcoming + inclusive photographer + human being and embrace everyone. I am so happy you are here to view my work, stay as long as you’d like and please feel free to leave a comment or share any posts! XO Carla Ten Eyck
There were so many things that I loved about Kirsten + Thomas’ wedding at The Lord Thompson Manor this summer. So many!! First off, and most importantly, I just adore Kirsten and Thomas and how easy going and light they are! Nothing seemed to stress them out, not during our engagement session, or during our pre-planning meetings and come the day of the wedding with all of the moving parts that a wedding day has in it… nothing fazed them! And why would it? When you have the beehive of efficiency that is the staff at the Manor, nothing Read More
A tented wedding at someone’s home is always one of my favorite locations for a wedding. It’s like a bit of a blank canvas, with a tent (and a Sperry tent at that! My favorite!) you can create something that is truly a reflection of the couple and their taste, mixed in with the personal, with it being at a family home and all. I love it! Seeing the magic that Sarah True and her team at True Event put together on this blustery and quite rainy day was spectacular to watch! Everything went off without a hitch, and we Read More
This year has been the year of just, soul-mate clients! And I am not talking about for each other, because, like, DUH if you’re not..! Then we have bigger issues, am I right? I am talking about my clients being my soul-clients. And not all of them are, which is, (in the real world anyway) the norm, am I right? But there is something magical about this year’s lineup… something really deep and real, and I am so happy about it!
Enter Laura and Rob. My first clue that they were something special should have been the fact that Laura Read More
I can’t say enough about the Michaels. From our first chat on the phone (where I feel like I was squealing on the inside, and quite possibly it was on the outside!) after hearing how excited they were to marry each other with the love and support of their friends and family at one of the most beautiful venues in Newport… Castle Hill..(!) I just couldn’t wait to see how it all unfolded. How dashing they would look in their tuxes. How they would so tenderly look into each others’ eyes as they exchanged vows. Read More

I have recently started to listen to and appreciate country music. Big share there! Not like super hard-core twang-fest country music, but more the kind that gets you in the feels. Brandi Carlile, The Zac Brown Band, always Willie Nelson, always. You feel me. Or maybe you don’t. Here’s the thing. For me, as an artist, I need to find clients who see my work and can feel it resonate within them. Much like these country artists to me, I need my clients to feel the emotion Read More
What started off as a spur of the moment, let me grab you and create a portrait of you because I am super inspired and I can’t control myself whim, has morphed into an official offering at my most favorite industry event, the Engage Luxury Wedding Summit that happens every six months in high-end resorts all over the globe! That entire sentence made me so happy to even think about in private, let alone have it be something that is actually a reality…! I still can’t believe that I get to attend each Engage not only as an attendee Read More
One of the weddings I am looking forward to photographing so much this year has got to be Christopher + Tyler’s. And not just because the countdown has been more dramatic and drawn out than say, Kim and Kanye’s! Because that has been super fun to watch on Facebook (since we are all friends and we ‘like’ each other’s gym pics!) But it’s also because I get to see Chris’ family again, all together celebrating. I met Chris in 2010 when I photographed his sister, my home girl for life, Liz Krankowitz. No. That is not her real name Read More
I met Vanessa a few years back at one of the most amazing industry conferences there is, called Engage Luxury Wedding Summits. We circled around each other for a few conferences before really seeing what great friends we were going to become. You know how that is when you make friends in the industry, you try to maintain some level of professionalism and fanciness and do the square dance of .. professionalism and fanciness! Well, we do-si-do’d right into bestie country when she stepped in and designed and printed the beautiful prayer card for my good friend and employee Read More
This week I got to spend the afternoon with a couple that I have gotten to know so well over the years. I met Liane a few years back for the first time while doing a cover shoot for Bliss Celebrations Magazine- you can see this shoot for this HERE and I knew she had something special… she was a natural in front of the camera, and as much as I would like to think it was me and my mojo, nuh-uh this girl just has it! But when we work together we make some sweet kind of magic Read More
Meet Mary Rose. A vibrant, strong, passionate fighter. Outspoken. Loud, even! But so, so full of life! I met Mary Rose at the salon and we hit if off instantly. She told me how she wanted to do a shoot and I quietly squealed and said, wait. I am actually working on a project about survivors and would love to photograph her. And so it was.
Mary Rose came to my house in the morning, nervous, excited and full of energy for her session. We talked about… everything. Life, death, kids, love, school, work. All of the things. She Read More
