Eyes up, heart open
My most important job as your photographer is to tell the story of your wedding day while making you and your family and friends comfortable.
I believe the more comfortable you are, the better your pictures will be.
My typical client loves their family + friends over anything. Always, always. They value time spent together, and are able to appreciate the quieter moments in their relationships, that strung together, share a story of deep love.
They appreciate beautiful photography, art and design. Someone who lets me do what I do best, and trusts my many years of experience in the industry. Whether you are the most camera-shy person or the biggest ham, there is no cookie-cutter approach to every client.
I will get you comfortable in a way that is best for you.
Here you can view my most recent weddings, events and other fun sessions. Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable, I have been happily blogging since 2006, so there is all of the content to do a deep dive and see if I am the right fit for you and your event.
I pride myself on being a welcoming + inclusive photographer + human being and embrace everyone. I am so happy you are here to view my work, stay as long as you’d like and please feel free to leave a comment or share any posts! XO Carla Ten Eyck
There are publications and teams that I love working with, and these ladies are at the top of the list! My good friend Amy Blau is the publisher of one of the most super gorgeous magazines ever ever in the world AMEN! called Bliss Celebrations Magazine. When she puts an idea out there for me to collaborate on with her I immediately start drooling because I just know that what she will put in front of me will be the stuff that dreams are made of! This shoot we did at Mount Hope Farm in Rhode Island? Was no exception!!! Read More
When Caity + Ryan first reached out to me to do their engagement session, it was just for that. They didn’t have firm plans for their wedding laid out and wanted to make sure they had time to get some photographs taken in the height of fall in CT and I was more than game. We met at Gouveia Vineyard in Wallingford CT (you can see their blog post here) and spent the afternoon literally frolicking around the property, laughing and shouting (with glee!) because we were so, so happy to me creating such amazing images together, it felt Read More
Jessica + Jeremy had the most intimate, perfect wedding at one of my favorite resorts, The Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. I have done many weddings there, and they vary from the whole shebang of 150 people and all the bells and whistles to an intimate dinner for 20 or even more intimate ceremony for 6! I love the variety of celebrations I have been able to experience here, and this one is by far at the top of the list. They had their ceremony in the herb garden overlooking the ocean, and we could hear the Read More
I was so excited to meet up with Megan + Tim for their engagement session last fall. The day was perfect, the light was working for me and I was so inspired by the location! We poked around their property in the rolling hills of Woodbury, CT and it was just filled with so many little nooks for creating some magical images, I could barely contain myself! We got to ride around in a tractor to get to the fields and can I just say how much FUN that was?? That is so not something that I do in Read More
There are very few things in my line of work that have surprised me, really. I mean, when you photograph weddings regularly you pretty much have seen it all! But. When you get a call from a couple who are planning on surprising their families with a wedding when they think they are just showing up for dinner together? Well, that is something new and I am all over it!
Nick + Brit had everything planned- and we talked a bit about how they were going to tell her Mom. They knew how mad she would be if Read More
I met Christina + Nick during their engagement session at Yale a while back, knowing that they would be marrying in Colorado the next June, but they were all set for a photographer. They wanted to poke around Yale and give it a last go-round, as they would be moving to Colorado after graduating, and I was more than happy to be a part of their farewell tour to a place they called home. After our session, they loved their images so much, and had so much fun laughing and popping all over New Haven together that they Read More
I first met up with Lindsey almost two years before her wedding. We ‘met’ on the phone, as most of my clients and I do these days, and instantly hit it off! We talked for a few hours and could have literally still been on the phone if we didn’t have to hang up. I’m serious! Lindsey has such a passion and love of the arts, and works for a really amazing company called The Caliber Collection, that uses serial number from illegal guns and metal from shell casings to create a unique line of products. They donates 20% of the net Read More
This is a year of new things, and I am excited, nervous and ready for it all! After years of turning work away to do family portraits for people, I have decided to say yes to it… but with some stipulations. I want to create portraits my way. With light that gives me butterflies, in a space that I love, with a finished product that I am proud to share. Proud to hang in my home, have framed by my bed, where I can wake up to images of my family that fill me and help me see how Read More
Who I get asked to be a photographer’s photographer, it’s a little like winning the prize but also a little scary! Like, they know my tricks and my super slickness factor kind of goes out the window a bit! I met Kate years ago and has been an industry friend since way back, but being her personal photographer has made us even closer, and I am so grateful for this! I get how she feels kind of uncomfortable in front of the camera since her home is on the other side, and really worked hard to make sure her Read More
There is nothing quite like a wedding in Connecticut in the Fall… can’t you almost just smell the crisp air and hear the leaves crackle under your feet as you walk? I am a CT girl through, and through and when I tell you there is nothing quite like it… trust me! Sarah and Peter got married at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury CT on a drizzly Autumn day which did not dampen our spirits at all! In fact, it actually added to the romantic feel of the portraits and made them a little more romantic, in my opinion… Read More
