This is when it gets hard. The dust is settling, and everyone’s life goes on. Posts about coffee, and gardens and family vacations and puppies and fun pictures with your friends flood my feed. It’s life. It does in fact go on. It’s bittersweet to see, coming off the craziest week of my life, where I felt frozen in the worst dream. I am now slowly waking with a tender and wounded heart. Still in shock and disbelief. At times forgetting that Eric is no longer here. Yesterday an alert popped up on my phone MEETING WITH RAW 9:30. I Read More

great gatsby inspired editorial shoot with the white dress by the shore

The Great Gatsby movie opens this weekend, and to much fanfare- more for the fashion or for the actual movie, who knows! There is something so romantic about the fashion and styling of this era, and to be able to do an editorial shoot that was Gatsby-Inspired was like a total no-brainer for me! What’s not to love? Visually I was overwhelmed with deep red lipsticks, feathers, texture, opulence on every level- from the styling of every little detail that our model Liane wore to the rich, beautiful paper Read More

my inspire photo retreat 2013 experience

This February was crazy. For so many reasons! That Blizzard. Man oh man was I bitter about this, but really only for the shoveling part, otherwise it was kinda pretty.
Aside from 36” of snow the next craziest part of my month was the shake up I got while attending the Inspire photography conference in Sturbridge. I am on the planning team, so nothing about this conference should have been much of a surprise, right. Like, I totally knew what we had planned! Because I helped planned much of it!
And yet.
The internal shake up that followed- and Read More

2013: the year of the personal project

Winter time is the time for (most) photographers to stretch out, take a seminar and get their learn on. Many wedding photographers don’t have weddings until the spring or early summer, so this can be a nice break. Me? Nah. There’s no crying in baseball and there’s no breaks for Mami! While a short teeny tiny break in say, St. John is nice (har har) a months long no shooting break would literally break my spirit! So what to do? I say it’s the absolute perfect time for educational things like workshops, seminars, retreats etc. and also for the personal Read More

happy birthday mom

Dear Mom,
Happy Birthday! I’m sorry to say I don’t know how old you would have been today. We all know I suck at math. I guess the good part about dying is that you get to be immortalized at the age you were when you died… so for you, happy eternal 59th birthday! I remember when I thought that 59 felt like so far away. Shit I thought 40 was old! That’ll be me next April, can you imagine Mom? But here you are, 59 years young, forever. I have to say I struggle with that number Mom. Read More

queen anne’s lace field shoot

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it probably twice… this is the year of the personal project for me, in a big way. There are a bunch of things I have in some sort of production stage- whether it’s stuff I have actually shot or things that I have  squirreled away in my pink and purple haired crazy brain for later. Waiting for the perfect time. Kind of like this here shoot. Many of you that know me know that I have been on the quest for the perfect field of Queen Anne’s Lace. For a few years now Read More

ophelia inspired editorial shoot

Where do I even begin? Once upon a time there was a painting. And I fell in love with so many aspects of it, that I just couldn’t shake it from my soul. It’s funny because only recently have I started to delve into my obsession with Ophelia inspired art. Hands down my favorite is Millais’ Ophelia painting that I had the thrill of seeing in person this spring on a recent trip to London’s Tate Britain. I was stunned into uncharacteristic silence as I stood back and took it all in. It was… perfect. Breathtaking and moody. That in Read More

david hockney, ophelia and critiquing paintings

**this was written this past spring, just got around to sharing it! Also. Please read in a British accent. It will sound way smarter! That is all. Cheers!
Right now I am in London shooting for one of my U.S. based commercial clients for the week and am just wrapping up today. We had some amazing meals, tasty fruity ciders that I HOPE we can find back in the states, and have done a great job for our client. All in all? A solid, pretty amazing week!
Some highlights so far (we still have a week in Paris left!) Read More
