Eyes up, heart open
Lauren + Vanessa, The Barn at Walnut Hill, Portland Maine
I have recently started to listen to and appreciate country music. Big share there! Not like super hard-core twang-fest country music, but more the kind that gets you in the feels. Brandi Carlile, The Zac Brown Band, always Willie Nelson, always. You feel me. Or maybe you don’t. Here’s the thing. For me, as an artist, I need to find clients who see my work and can feel it resonate within them. Much like these country artists to me, I need my clients to feel the emotion Read More
What started off as a spur of the moment, let me grab you and create a portrait of you because I am super inspired and I can’t control myself whim, has morphed into an official offering at my most favorite industry event, the Engage Luxury Wedding Summit that happens every six months in high-end resorts all over the globe! That entire sentence made me so happy to even think about in private, let alone have it be something that is actually a reality…! I still can’t believe that I get to attend each Engage not only as an attendee Read More
One of the weddings I am looking forward to photographing so much this year has got to be Christopher + Tyler’s. And not just because the countdown has been more dramatic and drawn out than say, Kim and Kanye’s! Because that has been super fun to watch on Facebook (since we are all friends and we ‘like’ each other’s gym pics!) But it’s also because I get to see Chris’ family again, all together celebrating. I met Chris in 2010 when I photographed his sister, my home girl for life, Liz Krankowitz. No. That is not her real name Read More
I met Vanessa a few years back at one of the most amazing industry conferences there is, called Engage Luxury Wedding Summits. We circled around each other for a few conferences before really seeing what great friends we were going to become. You know how that is when you make friends in the industry, you try to maintain some level of professionalism and fanciness and do the square dance of .. professionalism and fanciness! Well, we do-si-do’d right into bestie country when she stepped in and designed and printed the beautiful prayer card for my good friend and employee Read More
This week I got to spend the afternoon with a couple that I have gotten to know so well over the years. I met Liane a few years back for the first time while doing a cover shoot for Bliss Celebrations Magazine- you can see this shoot for this HERE and I knew she had something special… she was a natural in front of the camera, and as much as I would like to think it was me and my mojo, nuh-uh this girl just has it! But when we work together we make some sweet kind of magic Read More
Meet Mary Rose. A vibrant, strong, passionate fighter. Outspoken. Loud, even! But so, so full of life! I met Mary Rose at the salon and we hit if off instantly. She told me how she wanted to do a shoot and I quietly squealed and said, wait. I am actually working on a project about survivors and would love to photograph her. And so it was.
Mary Rose came to my house in the morning, nervous, excited and full of energy for her session. We talked about… everything. Life, death, kids, love, school, work. All of the things. She Read More
While vacationing at The Caribbean Club on Grand Cayman (one of my most favorite places in the world..!!!), I was able to spend some time with an industry friend of mine who I met last year at two conferences – Grow Brand Camp in Maine and Engage! in Cayman – Linda Mitchell of Luxury Travel Pro. Linda specializes in luxury concierge services in both Cayman and Bermuda (not a bad gig!!) and was celebrating her wedding anniversary to her super adorable husband Ken of FORTY YEARS!!!
Not sure if that kinda big time match sunk in with you all…I said, and I Read More
Last end of summer / fall (my most favorite in between season in New England!) I got to spend a warm and beautiful afternoon with Kirsten + Thomas at one of my favorite places to create images for both weddings and portrait sessions Harkness Park in Waterford CT. It’s the best combination of gardens and beach and a mansion! What could be better than that? Especially when the gardens are just about exploding with blooms, and the sun is setting in the most magnificent spots and then Kirsten + Thomas were just both so… laughy and expressive and gave Read More
March 16th may have just seemed like an ordinary Monday to some, but to our Connecticut wedding vendor community it was a super special and beautiful day. On this Monday, we gathered around one of ours in a tight, cozy group to help her and hers celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary. Ever since I met Val, she lamented over how she and her husband Jack didn’t get the amazing wedding photographs from their wedding. As a wedding photographer herself now, I can’t imagine how awful that must feel. Beyond that, life has thrown their family some pretty big Read More
Last week I had twenty-four high school kids from Classical Magnet school in Hartford take a field trip to my studio to hear about creating portraits. I showed them some portrait work I had done, many of which were shot on the beaches of Grand Cayman. To them this exotic location excited them but then instantly stifled their process. I was ready for that, in fact I had planned on it, but I still wasn’t sure how I was going to proceed with what I had planned.
One of my most favorite quotes is this one by Marcel Proust: ‘The Read More
