engage!16 sea island portraits with carla ten eyck

Last week I attended my ninth Engage! Luxury Business Summit conference at The Cloister on Sea Island, Georgia. I am what we refer to as a Nine Baller, and I proudly wore those nine balls around my neck until I broke my name tag with my (not so) smooth dance moves and they all went squirreling all over the dance floor, pell-mell and I sunk my head in sadness. Oh well! A girl does not need the actual nine balls to prove how in love with this conference I have become, that is a fun fact for you!Read More

wedding at the longmeadow country club with carla ten eyck

I knew when I met Paige and Geoff we were going to be a great fit- for many reasons. Yeah, they are in love, and so sweet to one another and their wedding at the Longmeadow Country Club this summer was awesome in so many ways! But tell em that Paige doesn’t remind you of Lucille Ball? Can I get an amen!? Paige is so funny and expressive and so incredibly fun to photograph!! Each image has something touching or funny about it- I mean who high fives people as they walk down the aisle to their groom? PAIGE! Read More

tokeneke club wedding in darien ct with amy champagne events + carla ten eyck

Mallory + Wes’ wedding at the Tokeneke Club in Darien, CT with the ever-amazing Amy Champagne Events was one for the books! Not only was it THE hottest day, like ever, but it was also the most beautiful. The day was filled with so much laughing (Wes and his groomsmen were like a pack of puppies in the best way) there was hugging for everyone, and men crying at emotional and moving moments and uniforms and gorgeous flowers by Carrie Wilcox!  The venue was one of the most interesting places to work in. It has a retractable roof!! and Read More

black and white mini portrait sessions

When I first got into weddings that is all I wanted to focus on, and quite frankly it’s all I was able to handle at the time! I had upwards of 40 wedding clients a year, and for a boutique studio that was, quite frankly, way too much.  I updated my approach to my business, and decided to focus more on the client experience than just saying yes to everyone who wanted to hire me for their event. Doing this gave me more breathing room to connect with the clients that not only had chosen me, but who I Read More

field to vase dinner with david beahm at thistle dew farm

This summer I had the honor of being asked to document a field to vase dinner tour at my good friend David Beahm’s personal home, Thistle Dew Farm in PA. I had visited there a few weekends before and if I could describe heaven visually, this would be on my map of heaven. Right in front of David’s home is a huge hedge of zinnias… if you want to picture what my soul looks like, it would be that! So to go back and see Thistle Dew transformed for a big event like this was so much fun! We Read More

inn at woodstock wedding with carla ten eyck

When I get the entrusted to photograph a colleague’s wedding it is one of the highest highs for me. Like, what a total compliment that a fellow industry friend wants my take on their big day! I have known Hope for quite a while now. We have collaborated on many styled shoots, on real weddings and on shoots for my book (The White Dress in Color: Inspiration for the Modern Bride– available on Amazon, y’all!) and also for our second book, due out next year! But Hope and I have an even deeper connection. Our previous marriages ended around Read More

The Webb Barn wedding in Wethersfield CT of Stephanie and Mike was perfect. When I met Stephanie and Mike at my studio I knew instantly that we were going to make a great team! Cancun Mexico Wedding with Carla Ten Eyck

This July I had the honor of photographing my cousin Stephanie + Greg’s wedding in Cancun, Mexico. It was so much fun to bring my family there with me, and to see them partake in the festivities that, in my normal day to day world, is considered ‘work.’ It was a welcome break from reality for me to refocus my perspective and be a part of the fun, while photographing it at the same time. Surreal, for sure! There is a distance that a camera can create for you as a photographer…. a much needed buffer where, when brought Read More

wedding in old saybrook ct with carla ten eyck

A fall wedding in Connecticut is one of those things that just about makes me sing inside! Add to it a couple in love, warm afternoon light, crisp fall air, gorgeous flowers and happy family + friends and I am just about over the moon excited! Elena + David epitomize my clients in the exact way that you simply cannot pigeon-hole who my ‘typical’ client is! I love people in love! And lucky for me, they love me too…! Couples who value photography, and value the time it can take to create beautiful imagery are my ideal, if I Read More
