I am so pleased to say that we have been featured two days in a row on one of the coolest wedding planning blogs, Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book Vendor Blog

! Style Me Pretty is one of the most exclusive wedding planning blogs in the country- membership is by invitation only and is limited to only THREE of the top vendors in each category. Needless to say I am just so super flattered to be a part of this very exclusive wedding group!

Our three day crazy beautiful Pakistani / Irish Wedding Extravaganza of Samar and Shane was featured in addition to the glorious and fantastic sunflower filled wedding of Tara and Mark at the New Haven Lawn Club!

Once upon a time there was a looooong blog post! Get ready, because you are in for a treat- filled with color, details, emotion and the cutest little kids, with the cutest little wreaths! Tara and Mark did their engagement shoot with Mike and I not too long ago up in Northampton. They are the nicest, sweetest, most smiley couple- and we had a great time getting to know them in their town. Then at their wedding on Saturday at the New Haven Lawn Club we got to meet all of their friends and families- and this is the part I love- it’s almost like when the house lands in the Wizard of Oz and Dorothy opens the door, and it’s all color….. yeah. Saturday was a little like that!

SUNFLOWERS!

Fleur de lys in New Haven did the flowers and they rocked it OUT. So beautiful, so colorful, warm and vibrant. Not to mention fun to shoot! To start, the ladies got their hair and makeup done at Joiya Salon in New Haven. They were so accommodating and easy to work with!

Tara’s little god-daughter was just the most sweet little flowergirl… she lasted ALL day, and was in great spirits!

Here is why… she is not only the most gentle and sweet woman, but she was absolutely radiant

I was not prepared for how emotional Tara’s Dad got when he saw her for the first time! My heart melted, and yes, I had to fight back tears

Just the way the programs were displayed was so elegant and lush

Color the world over….it made my day

Tara’s Mom was so fun to watch, she was so excited when Tara came down the aisle with her Dad she just couldn’t wait to see Mark’s expression

After they were officially married, they kept looking at their rings

The crazy talented Miss Katie Slater was able to snag some really beautiful shots from her perch in the balcony…. St. Mary’s church in New Haven is no joke!

Enter: The New Haven Lawn Club. aka my New Favorite Place to shoot!!

They had one of the best first dance songs, it was so original- the Beach Boys ‘God Only Knows’ And maybe I am partial to it because it plays during my favorite movie ender scene- in Love Actually- with the airport scene? LOVE! (actually is all around us)

Mike shot this of their first dance, and I had to include it since the poor guy is so backed up on his blog!! Isn’t it beautiful?? Not only that, it’s always nice to see the mix of work since there are two photographers at every wedding I do, even though what I post here is normally all my shots (except now of course)

Tara’s maid of honor gave a very emotional toast to Tara and Mark. And HERE is where I couldn’t hold back… I believe that she had lost her Mom, and when she said ‘I know my Mom would be so proud of you right now Tara’ I totally felt her pain, it snuck up on me in a big way… thank god my camera is so big, it makes hiding my big messy red face much easier… And can you see where I was? No where to hide!!

Tara had to throw the bouquet THREE times before she got it close enough so that the ladies even had a prayer of catching it! This throw didn’t count… LOL

We must end on some pure silliness!! We have changed up our photo booth a bit, to give it the old C 10ike stamp of C 10 ike ness!!! Color, fun and silly.. and Mike’s super long arms don’t hurt!

Congratulations Tara and Mark! Thank you for opening your homes and hearts to us! We look forward to seeing you both again soon!

The Sunday after our Saybrook Point Inn Wedding Mike and I journeyed up to Northampton way to photograph our May 16th clients Tara and Mark. Let me just warn you that they are so cute together!! So we started off at their apartment before we headed out to a few areas that they like for photos.

On Friday February 6, 2009 Carla will be a featured speaker for the Connecticut Professional Photographer’s (CPPA) Annual photography convention in Cromwell, CT. She will talk about blogging and it’s impact on her business. Be sure to check her out!

Don’t Box Us In, a site that focuses on photographers that are creative and non-traditional. They interviewed Carla about what she does and how she stays creative!

Carla placed eigth in the Bridal Party category of the international wedding photo competition hosted by the WPJA and Brides.com for the Fall of 2008.

Carla placed first in the Reception category in Wedcomp’s first international wedding photography competition for the Fall of 2008! She had a number of other images place in the same competition as well.

Carla Ten Eyck Photography was chosen as Asuka Books’ very first Studio Spotlight AND the September 2007 Book of the Month for her book titled: ‘See Real Women: Really See Women’ that she photographed and designed to showcase the body of work that she created for her gallery show in October 2007.

Carla received a grant to create the work from the Roberts foundation in Connecticut. She asks all women how they see themselves as their most beautiful and then figures out the best way to photograph their answer.

Carla now hosts a regular workshop at her studio on the first Tuesday of every month called Ten Eyck Tuesdays. For more info click on the ‘workshop’ tab above!
In April 2008 Carla and Steve co-hosted a workshop called the ‘Rediscovery’ Workshop at Carla’s studio in Hartford. Over 25 professional photographers from all over CT and as far away as North Carolina attended the all day intensive.
