I met Lacy last year when she was the maid of honor at her best friend Samira’s wedding- she had the sassiest pink shoes on with her dress and from that point on I knew we would get along! So when she got engaged to Gene we were on deck to photograph their wedding at the Racebrook Country Club in Orange CT earlier in August.

Now if I think I’m friends with Lacy, well her Mom was quickly inching her way into my favor very quickly! She was quick with a laugh and had THE coolest closet FULL, and when I say full I mean, like dream full- of the best shoes in the world! Picture cute Barbie shoes? And then picture them being real! There was Sunny’s closet! Full of cool shoes with things like pink feathers and pineapples and sequins and just prettiness! And she had a tiara. Enough said!

So Lacy’s details we just so pretty, I could hardly contain myself. Check out her flowers. They had the prettiest most delicate silver handle! Which is what gave me the idea of putting them on the silver tea set. That, and I wanted another shameless sneaky self portrait, however distorted it is!

See how pretty the handle is? These hand bags were gifts for the brides maids- and their bouquets were so pretty!! A family friend was the florist and did an excellent job!!

Shoes abound!! The ones on the left were Sunny’s. I couldn’t resist!!

Lacy’s gown was also a Vera Wang and I thought it was the most feminine and beautiful dress

It was SO hot on their wedding day, but it didn’t get anyone down!

Lacy and Gene had a lemon theme running throughout their wedding- I just loved how they worked it onto the pews and all over (the shot on the right is Mike’s)

And Mike also got this one, I love how he focused on the lemons and got them at just the right moment

And they had parasols!!! what’s not to love about these???

Gene is big into John Deere hats, so all of his guys got one

Mike Romano strikes again- I love his take on this sparkler shot as they were announced in there were a bunch of people with these going on!!

Lemony details made for some lemony pictures!!!

So one of my favorite things to do is to snag my couples during their reception if the light or weather is doing something cool lie fog or snow. These guys had literally just sat down to eat but jumped at the chance to run out and grab some shots!!

Mike. Seriously. All Mike. Maybe my favorite shot all day- the texture and tiny bit of light he got on the bouquet, was just the most perfect amount!!

Carla placed eigth in the Bridal Party category of the international wedding photo competition hosted by the WPJA and Brides.com for the Fall of 2008.

Carla placed first in the Reception category in Wedcomp’s first international wedding photography competition for the Fall of 2008! She had a number of other images place in the same competition as well.

Carla Ten Eyck Photography was chosen as Asuka Books’ very first Studio Spotlight AND the September 2007 Book of the Month for her book titled: ‘See Real Women: Really See Women’ that she photographed and designed to showcase the body of work that she created for her gallery show in October 2007.

Carla received a grant to create the work from the Roberts foundation in Connecticut. She asks all women how they see themselves as their most beautiful and then figures out the best way to photograph their answer.

Carla now hosts a regular workshop at her studio on the first Tuesday of every month called Ten Eyck Tuesdays. For more info click on the ‘workshop’ tab above!
In April 2008 Carla and Steve co-hosted a workshop called the ‘Rediscovery’ Workshop at Carla’s studio in Hartford. Over 25 professional photographers from all over CT and as far away as North Carolina attended the all day intensive.

mallory + chris wedding at the great river country club milford

Last Saturday Mike and I photographed Mallory & Chris’ wedding at the Trumbull Congregational Church and the Great River Country Club in Milford. I just love shooting there- the are SO wonderful to work with! We had a special guest shooter, my good friend Miss Nikki Nicole come along and shoot with the day- and we had a BLAST!!
Mallory’s bridesmaid Serena had us all cracking up here, I won’t tell you what she said but it was hilarious!

These ladies were rocking the best shoes, they had such a sexy bow at the back!

I had a lot of fun shooting the dress- I started off in the hallway outside of the room, because it was full of girls getting ready and there wasn’t really a place to hang it…so I relied on my trusty back up of the hotel dolly cart hoo ha and started where I normally shoot- I like what I get, decide I wanted to add a shoe element to it, so I go to snag them from Mr. Romano who is busy shooting them in the lobby….

Then I see this BIG window in the lobby area and am like….hmmmm….wait a second…! And then decide to clear the entire room of it’s furniture to create this shot.

Then when Mike is done shooting the shoes I added one to the cart to change up the whole feel of the shot. I really like what I got, but I really really LOVE what Mike got, I can’t wait for him to blog it so you can check it out! In our efforts to one up each other we end up getting some really great shots, which only benefits our clients and each other, really!

So once we are done shooting the dress here, we put the room back together…and then I decide I wanted to shoot Mallory and her girls here, OF COURSE I DO because then I have to take the room apart again!! More work! But we do it quickly and get some fun shots!

A new spin on our hairspray shots…and this perfume smelled really nice!

I feel a little like my buddy Steve Depino with my moody, ring bearer shot! This little guy was SO cute and quite a contender on the dance floor!

These pipes made such a cool backdrop for shooting, talk about leading lines

After the ceremony, we hid out and let the church clear out so we could do family pictures…there was the most beautiful room where Mallory and Chris could just have a moment to collect themselves and enjoy being married…this is my most favorite time for them, it can be pretty overwhelming!

Trying to change up my feet shots a bit, I am just loving the texture in her lacy dress and the cobblestones

The dusky light is just so soft and beautiful…

I almost lost my spleen trying to lean over the railing- these were WAY child proof- much to my dismay! But I am glad I risked my life and internal organs for this shot- it’s my favorite of the day!

Anaconda 3: The Offspring divx Yes, I could have frozen their motion but made the executive, artistic decision not to! This just feels all ‘newlywed-couple-caught-fleeing-in-an-alley-in-France’ or something, no?

Again, I decided to be a little risky for this shot, turned off my flash and went with the motion- the best part? Her high heel!

OK, I lied. THIS is my favorite shot of the night!!! ha ha ha! Check out Miss Nikki Nicole all bright eyed and bushy tailed! We had a great time shooting with you, come back any time!!!

Mike’s bright idea. Not sure why I followed along- save for the fact that I can NOW say I have put my flash in my mouth!

Mallory and Chris it was so good to see you guys again- we had an incredible time with you both and hope you had a relaxing and fun honeymoon!
