zac and aubre wedding at le chateau south salem ny

Earlier in October the Carla Ten Eyck Photography team that is myself, Mike and Katie – had the absolute pleasure of photographing a beautiful fall wedding at Le Chateau in South Salem NY. The day was crisp, the sky was blue and the leaves were on fire! Katie and Mike went to hang with the guys for a bit and Katie got this shot of the guys doing a shot!

Aubre got her absolutely stunning dress from Pronovias in New York City

I am not sure she could be more beautiful!

Check out the ruffles! Watch how much we shoot them all day

Zac decided to surprise Aubrey with a special ring on their wedding day in addition to her wedding band

Mike got this shot of  Zac reading a letter from Aubre

I love this series of Aubre reacting to her new ring!!

I love Katie’s take of the situation, complete with delicious lens flare

Mike Romano got both of these

Then I had some fun too! Their flowers were done by Blossoms Event Design Center in Norwalk, they did a fabulous job!

Remember when I asked if she could get any more beautiful? Well add her dashing husband Zac and call it a day!

The guys always look great. It’s almost not fair!

She was like this all day, happy and radiant

The ladies surely did not disappoint!

We had some fun having them walk while we shot- my take on the top left, Katie’s view of the, AHEM, situation, then Mike’s shot on the bottom left, and mine on the bottom right

It was crazy. I could not stop taking pictures of them!!

One of my favorites of the day: Katie’s shot right before Aubre walks down the aisle

And yes, even though they JUST saw each other, look at Zac looking at Aubre walking down that aisle to him

I really loved the bridesmaids bouquets

It got dark QUICK!! But we had the most beautiful and intense sunset and we took full advantage by working super quick

Then we had to involve the bridal party in a toast

The details were all shot by all three of us- me Mike and Katie

One of the best parts of the day, and there were many, was that their videographer Kate Slovitch was also their ballroom dancing teacher! Kate and Roger were the most fun and entertaining people we have ever met and we were so sad to part ways at the end of the night!!

Zac and Aubre did an awesome job on their dance!

Aubre danced with her brother and Zac with his Mom

I just love love love Mike’s take on both dances here

melissa and mike new york city engagement session

Just so I don’t inadvertantly embarass myself I will just throw it out there:

download Trilogy of Terror movie

I am NOT a sports fan- well, let me be clear, I will go to any live sporting event- they’re fun! why not? But I don’t take the time to commit to watching a particular sport, or anything really on tv. So the playoffs? Who’s playing? What sport??

Oh, trust me I am totally serious!

Ok, so now that I got that all cleared up. So  a few weeks back I went into New York to shoot my 2010 clients, Melissa and Mike’s engagement session. I was pumped! These guys were just so sweet and funny and they brought like their whole family to our first meeting and we all laughed and bonded- it was awesome! So of course I was excited to see them again for our shoot in the city.

Well, they unexpectedly got some Yankees tickets t a playoff game  that night and they were excited! The moral of the story? I had no idea they were in the payoffs, or that there were any going on!

So we started where it all began: the site of where they first started dating

one of my favorites, ever

No eyes were even blinked when I asked Melissa if she could hop on up in her spiky heels! You get what I’m putting out there? She was ON IT!!

Another recipe for some Ten Eyck favorite action: regular everyday folk, just living their lives, carrying their puffy lunch boxes and sensible shoes right. through. my. shot!!!

this silver stuff? very nice. Add Miss Melissa? Even nicer!

Then Mike and his dimples? the BEST

It started to sprinkle a little so we hung under here for a spell

Then we passed this reflectiony thing and had some fun

I had to prove I was there too. You know you like my shirt. and my Boda Bag!!!

ok really really? nothing says New York like a pretzel with an engagement ring in it!!

and then? we were walking by this fountain which was cool in itself.

But I saw how cool it could really be! love love love love. OK i like this one too.

Doesn’t this look like it’s a Yankees sign? Who knows what it says but it sure looked cool

And to finish? We stopped at this cool bar called Jeremy’s- they serve you a big BIG beer in a styrofoam cup, so you better not squeeze too hard!!

Melissa and Mike, thanks so much for showing me some new spots to shoot and for being up for anything!!!

I can’t wait for your wedding!!!

how do you remember?

.!.

Next week I am going on a trip of a life time with my Dad to Oaxaca in Mexico. I am going to document the day of the dead down there, and learn more about it from my Dad’s perspective. Since he’s Mexican and all, he should be an expert, right?

When my Mom died almost 4 years ago, I made an altar at her Memorial of things that were something special to her or our memory of her. I loved how it turned out, and spent a lot of time just looking at it, and taking in all of the little things I had put in there in honor of her.

Her birthday is tomorrow, so it really seems like a good time to make it be all about her!

While down there, I plan on making an altar for my Mom- to remember things about her that are slowly slipping from my memory. As hard as it seems for me to think this, I feel her moving farther away, little by little. To stop this? I talk about her a lot, I do things she likes, I eat food I know she used to love.

And I will build her an altar, full of things I know she loved.

So then I had an idea. I want to honor your people. People who you have loved and lost. Send me an image, a funny story, a list of random things they loved. When I get to Mexico I will make them an altar and honor their memory.

email it to me at carla@carlateneyck.com by TUESDAY OCTOBER 27TH

I look forward to hearing how much you loved those that you have lost and all the funny things they liked
