This little scamp of a cat has lived at my house since 1992. I think he may even be older than Graham!! I remember coming home on a visit from RIT during the fall of 1992 and my brother had found him. He was such a mellow cat, cuddly and just all around nice. He used to come into our house but we had this crazy lab Cassie who HATED cats- and she was BIG and she would terrorize poor little Boots so that he stopped coming into our house. He became the neighborhood cat and the guy next door would feed him, in addition to everyone else.

My Mom’s New Boyfriend psp Kingpin video

That crazy Cassie scared poor Boots so bad that he didn’t come into our house until these past few months. I swear! That’s TWELVE YEARS of living as an outside cat!! Talk about having nine lives. But inside he came, little by little- as I am sure he could no longer smell Cassie and it just looked so different inside- or he became senile and forgot about her…

So we’d risk it (we don’t have a litter box) and let him in and feed him and give him water. He was so crazy he would fall asleep with his face in the water bowl, purring away. My kids loved him. I loved him, and Dave, well… Dave loved teasing him.

Boots became a fixture at the studio- he would greet certain people like Mike and Robin as they came in. Mike would pet him, even though he is allergic to cats, and even though Boots had sticks and leaves and junk just all tangled in his fur. The rest of us would watch his comings and goings and laugh at crazy old BOOOOTS as he methodically made his way up from the river every morning, or like in the picture above, slept in the middle of a lawn! How bizarre! Who does that?

Well, Boots doesn’t anymore and I am the sadder for it. See, he was the last of the animals that my Mom had, and that she loved. So Boots’ passing to me is even more painful because he was my Moms. And now it feels OFFICIAL. There is no animal left that my Mom loved, and she was the biggest animal lover….

maternity session at the studio

Maternity sessions are in full swing here at the studio! And while I feel like I am earning the rep for being an ‘urban maternity’ shooting kind of gal, we decided to change it up a bit and shoot only at the studio for Christy’s session. Well, that and the fact that it was way too chilly out to go parading around all exposed and stuff.

Maternity sessions for me are starting to really become my ‘thing’ –  in addition to weddings. My husband and I were talking about this today- about how to really make your mark on the world- and it got me thinking…. and I realized that making people feel beautiful is what I love to do. It applies to EVERY type of shoot I do, whether it’s weddings, or maternity or boudoir… and I came to the conclusion that these three types of shoots are exactly what that is about!

Feeling beautiful.

I walk around with a pair of extreme home makeover glasses on my eyes- meaning- just give me 10 minutes alone with you and my camera and I will show you what I see…. a beautiful person that’s either already there in full view or someone just lurking below the surface… Maybe it’s someone who never really saw themselves in that way before…maybe they have always wanted to be made to feel beautiful or sexy, but thought that no one could see that about them.

It’s like in the Wizard of Oz…when the house lands and Dorothy opens the door… and the world is in color…. I see you all in color!

OK, enough lovey dovey-ness! Without further delay…. this is what I came back with… after the house landed!

…she fit so nicely on my new couch, and so I went with it!!

my new favorite spot to photograph- the light here is all natural and simply radiant! Having a perfect pregnant lady here certainly doesn’t hurt either!

sage and young wedding at the peabody essex museum

A couple weeks ago Mike and I second shot for the super cali-fabulous Miss Shyla ! I met Shyla a few years back at Pictage’s Partner con in LA and just knew we would be friends. She has this infectious smile and energy and is easily one of the best photographers out there. At WPPI this year we discovered that she needed a second shooter for this incredible wedding in Boston in March and I absolutely jumped at the chance to learn from one of the best. Her clients, Sage and Young, are two of the most easy to photograph and be around people in the universe. Like really really really it was C-R-A-Z-Y.

So, since I was the second in command- a major lesson for me since I am always Charles in Charge up in here, and Mike is my goofy friend Buddy- Mike and I covered the boys, which is something that I don’t normally do. It was challenging but not really- I mean, Young’s loft was incredibly cool and had the most amazing light. I decided to do something fun and shoot his tux, like I would shoot the dress. We set it up in the laundry room…

His loft used to be an old factory of some type- there were numbers in the floors made entirely of nails where the machine stations were… yes I was hoping for a 10 but I’ll take a 20! It’s 2 ten’s you know

Check out this bridesmaids husband- is he the cutest husband or what??

Sage and Young opted for a  first look- so while Shyla was setting it up with Young, Sage took a moment to pray, and I was hidden in the back and was able to catch this very intimate moment

Right after their first look

Sage is one of the most photogenic,  beautiful and just radiant women I have ever photographed in my life! The whole day was alternating squeals of joy, me, Shyla, then Mike. OK Mike’s was totally in his head but I saw it! And believe me, Shyla and I did enough shouting for joy for the whole world!

I love that she planned ahead and had the wrap at the ready for her shoot! It not only kept her toasty warm but was an excellent prop for her pictures…A+++!

Midnight Cowboy release

It started to feel like a dream to me… one two three..WAKE UP! And then they would be gone! No big boat, no beautiful light, no fabulous couple… But it was real alright

Can they look ANY happier??

It’s like they knew we were coming or something

Not sure it gets any cuter than this little guy and his slick dance moves

One of the funnier toasts I have heard!

I could have easily posted about 40 more images here but then that would be just plain craziness!! BIG thanks to Shyla and Sage and Young for having Mike and I- we couldn’t have asked for an easier couple to work with!

Make sure to check out Shyla and Mike’s blogs for their KILLER shots!!
